Everyone is welcome to come to the Waubano Beach for "Illuminating Inclusion". Local community groups and individuals have been decorating glass lanterns in their own unique style for this event. They will come together during the evening of May 22 to create a beautiful representation of Diversity and Inclusion. Anyone interested in making lanterns is asked to drop them off at 38 Joseph St.

Tuesday June 17th Bands on the Bay At the Stockey Centre 7:00pm. “Kicking” off the season on June 17th is Kick Ptarmigan!. Parry Sound locals Duncan Bell and MArtin Jenkins formed this band in 2007. They have both been involved in the music scene for some time and were brought together by their mutual interest in broadening its scope. Kick Ptarmigan! concentrates on acoustic and folk-rock music. Featured in the 2007 Parry Sound Idol (they came in second!), Kick Ptarmigan! is sure to be something new that everyone can enjoy. Free Admission

Featuring Tyson King on lead vocals and rhythm guitar,Lloyd McArton playing the lead guitar, Josh McEwen as bass/backing vocals, and Robert Vincent on the drums, this group has their own unique sound that is a mix of metal, alternative and rock. Benny finds intrigue and suspense amid the denizens of Murinam (a fictional country which has the feel and look of a former French colony), when he is persuaded to investigate the death of an old schoolmate. Late Nights on Air, winner of the 2007 Giller Prize, Canada’s premier literary award for fiction, takes place in the Canadian north in the mid 1970’s. A cast of eccentric, utterly beguiling characters, all transplants from elsewhere, form an unlikely group at the local CBC radio station. One summer four of them embark on a canoe trip far into the Arctic Barrens. Their loves and longings, their rivalries and entanglements, the stories of their pasts and what brought each of them to the North, form the centre of this novel.
